Viper Shadow – Full Review

Welcome to the Pikpok Pickle Viper Shadow paddle Review.  The Bros have been super excited to review this paddle. We met the Pikpok Pickle crew back in March 2025 at the Radiance Wealth Victorian Open 2025 Championships. In our Pikpok Pickle Interview we got an insight into their paddle design process, and we really felt their passion for paddles.  And the Viper Shadow was the paddle that cleaned up and won a stack of medals on the day.

The Viper Shadow is the latest paddle from Pikpok pickle. Aimed at the Intermediate to tournament level player, the paddle is designed for precision, power and speed.  Any player could have a great time playing with the Viper Shadow, and we had a blast playing with it.

Beginners can use the Viper Shadow — but they might not get the most out of it. At $249 AUD, it’s a serious paddle built for players who can really tap into its power and precision. While newer players may not fully appreciate what it offers, experienced players will instantly notice the performance upgrade the Viper Shadow brings to the court.

With that in mind, let’s take a closer look.

Viper Shadow: Paddle Specs

The first thing you will notice about the Viper Shadow is the paddle is beautiful.  The design of the paddle is unbelievable.  The paddle colours pop, but there are also subtle textures and design elements that the Bros haven’t seen on a paddle before.

The paddle face is made of an aramid and carbon fibre hybrid.  This high performance fiber is strong and light and built for spin, and perfect to generate some power.

The Viper Shadow also has an elongated paddle face.  It’s even longer then other paddles we reviewed, like the Joola Agassi Champion 16mm.  This extended face length is designed to boost reach and swing efficiency.

The paddle has a plush, comfortable grip.  The grip is longer and feels super soft when swinging the paddle.  It feels more like a real tennis grip, and the extra length is ideal for players that want a paddle that can peel out a double handed shot.

With the paddle being a little longer, means it is a little heavier than other paddles.  The weight should be fine for experienced players. While beginners may feel it is a slight bit heavier if they are used to playing with more inexpensive, lighter paddles.

Let’s take a look at the specs.

  • Paddle Core Material: Polymer Honeycomb
  • Paddle Size: 43.2 cm/17 inches (L) x 17.8 cm/7 inches (W)
  • Grip Length: 15.2 cm/ 6 inches
  • Paddle Face: Aramid & Carbon Fibre Woven
  • Core Thickness: 16mm
  • Paddle Weight: 8.3oz (235g)
  • Price: $249 AUD

Paddle Design: Look & Feel

The Bros LOVE the design of the Viper Shadow.  Like most paddles, the image online looks great, but only when you get the paddle in your hands will you really appreciate how cool these paddles are.

At first glance, the untrained eye will see a plain paddle face that is no big deal.  But look closer and you will see a subtle Viper scale pattern that shines like snake skin in the light.  And the Pikpok movement lines at the bottom of the paddle, are embossed and really shine in direct light.

This level of designed detail is next level, and needs to be seen to be believed. And if you look closely on the paddle face, you will see a loud and proud “Designed in Melbourne”. We appreciate those small details, and having a Melbourne based paddle company to support is fine by the Bros! We love Melbourne!

Take a look at that paddle face detail, the viper scales and Shiny movement lines are next-level amazing!

The elongated paddle looks great and feels natural when you swing it.  Josh, our tennis-bro loved the longer tennis-face shape. And the grip is great, it feels really comfortable. Josh our tennis-bro also commented on how much he liked the soft grip. And we all like the extra length which gives your hand plenty of space to hold the paddle.

After studying the paddle, the Bros were even more excited to get it on the court.

Paddle Impressions: On the Court

Our expectations were so high on the Viper Shadow, based on how much we loved the look and feel.  And the Bros are happy to report that the Viper Shadow is pretty amazing on court.  The paddle felt so good as soon as we started to play, it was awesome.

The Bros were never big spin hitters.  Especially Gonz and Matt who never played tennis.  But the top spin shots we were producing semi-consistently has added a new element to our game.  It was so much fun to smack the ball so hard, with so much spin.  So satisfying and fun. It is now something we are working on improving.

The elongated face really works well, and feels really natural.  We loved the shape and having played with smaller paddles, the Viper Shadow paddle shape is a winner for us.

And the grip feels awesome, even when playing for extended periods.  And we are in the “longer grip” camp, so we appreciate the extra room for those double handed backhands.

The Bros really enjoyed the power we could generate.  Wow, some of the shots were outtasite.  And they weren’t wild shots, there was a great control from the baseline and at the net. Even our serves had some extra pepper on them, which felt so good during our games.

But with great paddle power comes great responsibility. And we enjoyed learning to control that power on the court, mixed with our spin shots. We just had a lot of fun trying new things on the court.

We also played on outdoor courts and we found ourselves mesmerized at how the sun hits the Viper Shadow, and the Viper scales and movement lines glistened in the sunlight.  So cool, between points we would just look at the paddle. We couldn’t help it 🙂

Overall, we really enjoyed playing with the Viper Shadow.  Now we know why actual, real talented players are loving this paddle too.  And having never played with serious power paddles before, we enjoyed the challenge of using that power. Seriously, it was a lot of fun and it’s a fantastic paddle.

Viper Shadow: is this Paddle for You?

The Viper Shadow is now officially one of our favourite paddles.  If not THE favourite, as we keep playing with this amazing paddle.  The playing experience varies between the Bros, but we all enjoyed the paddle.  Especially Gonz and Josh, who are more experienced and had a lot of fun with the power shots and the super spin winners were unreal.

We recommend players that want a power paddle that has some serious precision, should get this paddle.  The paddle is on the higher end of the price range, at $249 from the Pikpok pickle website.  But it is worthy of your time and money. And Heck – It’s winning Tournaments so that is an amazing accolade for a Melbourne based Pickleball company. Well Done Pikpok Pickle!

Final Wrap: Viper Shadow

What else can we say, we freakin love this paddle.  It hits every angle we care about in a paddle, and the scary thing is Pikpok have only just started to make paddles.  They crammed a lot into this beautiful paddle designed in Melbourne and it’s already taking over the world.

Pikpok pickle is a brand to keep an eye on, and as much as we looove this paddle, they have more exciting paddles coming soon.  So keep an eye out for what comes next.
