About the Radiance Wealth Victorian Open 2025 Championships
The Radiance Wealth Victorian Open 2025 championships was held over the Labour Day long Weekend, March 7-9. Organised by Pickleball Victoria, the event was BIG. It was so BIG it had to held in 2 locations, Frankston Centenary Tennis Club and Somerville Recreation Centre.
Two locations can be tough, especially if you want to watch all the matches. But it was great to have enough courts and facilities for 600+ competitors.
The games were split between two venues.
- Frankston Outside Courts: held all the singles matches, Open & 3.5+ divisions for doubles and mixed doubles
- Somerville Indoor Courts: Held all the 2.0-3.49 divisions.
Notable players competing at the Victoria Open include Major League Pickleball star Aaron Blitz. And National Pickleball League (NPL) players Josh Chia and Katerina Valos were there. Along with other players across Victoria’s pickleball teams and leagues.
Top 5 Experiences at the Victorian Open 2025 Tournament
The Bros enjoyed the tournament, despite the heat. We attended the Frankston Courts purely as a spectator and have put together a Top 5 list of what we enjoyed the most at the tournament.
Here we go.

1. Frankston Centenary Tennis Club was a Pickleball Paradise
With over 20 courts buzzing with action, the Frankston Centenary Tennis Club proved to be a fantastic venue. The sun was shining and the courts looked pristine. You could literally pick any spot and watch a great match.
The Bros mostly play Pickleball on indoor courts. So we really enjoyed the outdoor courts. There is something special about playing outside on a perfect sunny day. After experiencing the Frankston Courts, they’ve officially made it onto our must play list… officially.

2. Players at Every Skill Level were Competing
This is probably the biggest tournament we have attended, and it was great to watch all level of players having a go. Sure, when we attended the Proton tournament, we were a little star struck with the US pros. But this tournament was purely about everyday players trying their best in the extreme heat.

The Matches were fun to watch and there were some amazing pickleball rallies on offer. We cheered, We Ooohed and Aaahed. The competition was really great across all skill levels. And it was inspiring to see players competing. And it did get the Bros wondering about competing themselves… but more on that later.
3. A New Star Has Emerged… “The Pickleball Dentist”
One of the most exciting discoveries of the tournament was Tam Le-Vo, “the Pickleball Dentist”. He is a real-life dentist, and he dominated the Victorian Open 2025. On Day 1, he was undefeated with three gold medals in three events played over 12 hours. On Day 2, he picked up a Silver in the Open Men’s Doubles, losing to Aaron Blitz and Josh Chia.

That is quite an achievement. The Bros heard players and spectators talk about the Pickleball Dentist on the day. His achievements at the tournament are phenomenal.
And the Pickleball dentist is DY-NO-MITE to watch. Keep him on your Player Watch list next tournament.

4. Pickleball Clubs and Community Vibes were Flowing
It was great to see the pickleball teams and clubs out there competing. There was a row of club marques all lined up, filled with players and spectators watching the matches. We saw so many players in team or club uniforms, and it was really cool to see.

We love that grass roots approach to pickleball. It’s a driving force for Pickleballs Popularity in Victoria. It was also fun to talk to people and have a chat about their games. There was a lot of energy at the tournament and the Bros love it.

5. Pickleball Gear Heaven: Stalls, Paddles, Shoes & Merch
Pickleball stands with sponsors showcasing their paddles and gear was a nice addition to the tournament. When we attended the Proton Australia Pickleball Open 2025, our only complaint was there were no stalls or merchandise to buy.
The Bros had a great time hitting up the stalls. There were some great gear from new Aussie paddle makers at Love Pickle. The Bros learned a lot about the latest paddle technology from folks at PikPok Pickle. And we also had an awesome chat with Pickleball Mania about the latest in Pickleball shoes.
There are some great people behind these stalls. They are all passionate sellers and innovators in pickleball. We heard some incredible stories from industry pros and people buying gear.
And the day ended well when the Bros did manage to get some merch from PikPok Pickle (Thanks guys), which made us happy.
The Biggest Takeaway: Competing in a Pickleball Tournament
Watching the matches over the day, the Bros enjoyed watching some of the states best players. But also, we enjoyed seeing some of the lower ranked players too. Because it got us thinking, hey, I think I could maybe beat that guy.
Then that lead to, that looks like a lot of fun.
Which then led to, why aren’t I playing in tournaments too?
The Bros compete every week when we play pickleball socially, so why not enter a tournament? And maybe it’s a question many pickleball players ask themselves. If you play most weeks, why not have a crack?
The Bros left the tournament contemplating this very question. After watching so many great players at the Victoria Open 2025, it was inspiring. Stay tuned on what the Bros do next.
Final Wrap: Radiance Wealth Victorian Open 2025 Championships
The Radiance Wealth Victorian Open 2025 Championships proved that pickleball in Victoria continues to get bigger and better. It was a scorching day in Melbourne, but the tournament was a lot of fun.
It was a fantastic day and we encourage Pickleball fans to head out to any tournament, watch a live match and enjoy the show as a spectator. Even if you have no intention to compete, it’s great to support the sport and be inspired by some amazing players.
And who knows, maybe todays tournament spectators will become tomorrows competitors and champions. So get out to the next tournament and check it out.
