OK, let’s see what happened when the Bros started to play with these new paddles.

ZX-1 and ZX-3 First Impressions: Look and Feel

The first immediate thought that came to mind when first holding the ZX-1 and ZX-3 was…. the online images do not do these paddles justice. Maybe it is the matte and black designs that make it hard to capture, but these paddles are really beautifully designed.

The matte finish is really nice, and the paddles are impressive to look at and hold. Both paddles are really solid. They both have a nice feel and provide comfort and control on the court. They are durable and made for heavy-duty play.

So the Bros were impressed with the paddle design and feel. But how did they perform on the court… let’s take a look.

ZX-1 and ZX-3 First Impressions: On the Court

Holding the paddles already felt great, playing pretend shots in the lounge room. But on the court, the ZX-1 and ZX-3 both felt really good. The first thing you will notice is the paddle absorption. There is no dull thud or toy-sounding hit. There is a nice feeling when you hold and hit a ball using the paddles.

The paddles didn’t feel too heavy or too big. There is an adjustment period with any new paddle. And after a couple of games, the Bros got used to the paddle. The swinging action felt natural and shots were becoming more consistent. And again, it just felt great when the paddle connected with the ball.

Both paddles had an impressive feel and every hit felt satisfying. It is hard to explain, The paddles popped (no pun intended) and after extended play, they continued to perform with no concerns from the Bros.

Overall, the first impressions were great while playing using both the ZX-1 and ZX-3.

Spinergy ZX-1: Detailed Impressions

The Spinergy ZX-1 is the perfect paddle for players who want to get started playing pickleball. The Carbon/Polymer paddle is durable and lightweight. It is designed to sit nicely in your hand and feel good, and the edge guard protects the paddle while maximizing the playing surface.

The design of the paddle is simple but elegant. And it provides superior control for any player that has never touched a paddle before. The performance of the paddle is impressive and for that price point ($49), it really is a fantastic paddle. Anyone can get started on their Pickleball Adventure with a Spinergy ZX-1

The Spinergy ZX-1 is now available in a newer model for 2023. Updated with an updated textured finish for greater spin potential with an enhanced, green edge guard. These can be found via the links above.

Spinergy ZX-3: Detailed Impressions

The Spinergy ZX-3 is the next step up for any player that wants a paddle with more premium features. Constructed with Carbon/Polymer with an intense heat process, the ZX-3 is designed for players who want a greater touch. The paddle surface provides some nice spin on various shots. And although the Bros are not spin masters, the ZX-3 was great at producing some pretty sweet shots.

The paddle design has more visual flourishes and a better feel, with what felt like a larger sweet spot. This means your shots are more consistent and should (hopefully) convert to more points and wins. It has a durable face, with an edge guard and the grip feels great.

The Spinergy ZX-3 has also been recently updated, but it now includes a textured finish for enhanced spin and a green edge guard. Check those out via the links above.

ZX-1 and ZX-3 Difference

The ZX-1 and the ZX-3 are very similar, in size, shape, design and grip. The main difference is in the core material used for the paddles, which then impacts the price. The ZX-3 uses a Carbon/Polymer heating process when manufactured. This increases the paddle’s stability and balance, which ultimately improves your shots.

If deciding between the two, they are both fantastic paddles. But if you can afford the more expensive paddle, that is probably the better option longer term. The Bros would consider themselves intermediate players, and the ZX-3 was preferred after various sessions swapping between the two paddles.

But any beginner looking for a paddle honestly cannot go wrong with either paddle.
