There are different leagues, formats and tournament dates which can be confusing to follow. The Bros have stepped in to simplify this information. And hopefully get more players supporting the live game in 2024.
Let’s take a look at the Pickleball Tournament list.
1. NPL Pickleball Tournaments in 2024
The National Pickleball League (NPL) is the “premium pickleball organization of Australia”. The NPL provides a professional national league, tournaments and various programs to expand Pickleball across Australia and the Asia Pacific.
The NPL Tournament Schedule for 2024 will feature 100K in prize money with 18 teams across five events in Australia.
NPL Teams
The NPL has 108 players across 18 teams (6 players per team – 3 male, 3 female) across 3 states. The Teams by state are:

The finals will be held in Melbourne at the The Jar over 2 days. The top 8 teams across the country will battle it out to be crowned the “National Pickleball League Champions”
For more details, please check the NPL Season 1 page.
2. NPL-WPC Pickleball Tournaments in 2024
The National Pickleball League has partnered with Pickleball Global, to join the “WPC Asia Pacific Circuit – Road to Carmelina”. Top players in the region compete in the 10 part tour. This tour will have at least three NPL Championships/WPC Events in Australia.
NPL-WPC Teams
The competition is open to all players of all ages, in various age categories and skill divisions (Open, Advanced and Intermediate).
NPL-WPC Pickleball Tournament Format
Players in the NPL-WPC tournament can compete across the entire circuit that extends beyond just Australia. It ranges from India, Hong Kong and Bali amongst other regional locations in a Round Robin event.
The Top 20 players over the tour will compete at the WPC finals in Carmelina, Vietnam. The Carmelina Beach Resort is the first ever world-class beach resort with dedicated pickleball courts and stadium.

3. PPA-MLP Pickleball Tournaments in 2024
Pacific Pickleball (PPA) is the “official professional pickleball league of Australia”. It has a partnership with the sport’s governing body – Pickleball Australia Association. The PPA has also partnered with Major League Pickleball (MLP) to align with the MLP tournament format.
In February 2024, The Pacific Pickleball League (PPA) unveiled a partnership with the Carvana PPA Tour. Players in the league will compete under the PPA Tour Australia banner. This also aligns with the PPA Tour and MLP merger which was recently completed. The outcome of the merger is one unified pickleball company with distinct brands and pickleball formats within it.
The PPA-MLP Tournament Schedule for 2024 will feature 700K in prize money, twelve professional teams and six events across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
PPA-MLP Teams
The PPA-MLP has 48 players within 12 teams in the Asia Pacific. The Teams are:
- Original Four PPA-MLP Teams: Sydney Smash, Melbourne Mavericks, Brisbane Breakers, Gold Coast Glory.
- Eight New PPA-MLP Teams in 2024: South East Asia Surge, Eastern Rush, Asia Aces, Northern Crocs, Western Vipers, Fast Fours, New Zealand Hustle, Southern Stars
PPA-MLP Tournament Format
The 12 teams will compete across 6 tournament events, over two seasons in 2024. At the end of every season, there will be a season finale that will decide the Champions for that season.
The tournament will use the “MLPlay” format. The main difference being the “rally scoring format”, is used, where points are won regardless of the server. Which results in a faster, more dynamic game.
